Formula 1 wanted to build suspense for the reveal of their hotly-anticipated new racing car, while telling the story of their past innovations. So we put on a jaw-dropping launch event filled with captivating content and pounding audio to rile up excitement amongst F1 fans.

We were tasked with designing a dynamic stage that was to have multiple uses during a 30 minute live show broadcast on Sky Sports – the most important being to launch the new F1 car in the most dramatic way.

The show was packed with 3D animations, low frequency lasers, mechanical moving sets and tracked motion-controlled cameras to make sure viewers saw the best angles every time. We created a chronological look back at the history of F1 that combined archive footage and 3D animation of the many cars that have raced through the decades of F1. A unique camera shutter laser effect allowed us to reveal the car from inside an automated box, sliding open in an impactful launch moment that brought the new F1 branding to life.

The stage was also used for different live remote interviews between presenters and F1 royalty, on stage discussions with engineers and a live performance from electronic artists ‘Jungle’.

The show was pre-recorded as live the day before and polished overnight ready for a worldwide broadcast at 3pm the next day on Sky and F1’s own channels. With over 1.5 million views on YouTube, fans from around the globe were scrambling to get a first glimpse at F1’s new model.
